Love your website on Vittos. Visited that Restaurant last Sunday evening. The welcome was great, the food delicious and we had a most enjoyable outing.

i was well impressed with michael healy rae's interview on the late, late show last nite with regards to An Taisce, found the pathetic answers by the members of an taisce very funny.

You first line on the radio this morning was "all is well with the World". I know it was an every day phrase and not meant in any specific way but.it's not "all well in Burma. 100,000 people probably dead. Lets think of them and pray for them and hopefully we'll make some money available for them through the Red Cross or other.
8 May 2008 - Boyle

Webmaster comments   ...as you said - it is an every day phrase, and also a generalisation. Unfortunately for some there will always be tragedies, wars, hunger, violence, and struggles, but equally for some there will be joy, sunshine and happy days. Lets us pray that we are part of the latter group, and may find the strength to be able to assist those for whom "all is not well with the world..."

Good morning sean, here is something that might interest you and the people of Boyle. I was looking through one of the best fishing mags in Germany at the weekend and came across a 16 page article about fishing in Ireland, and right in the middle of this a couple of pages about Boyle and Lough Key. The person responsible for the article is Boyle´s Bodo Funke. I think it is great that himself and the fishing club are are contributing to tourisim for Boyle, well done.

Hi Sean - really enjoy your site - I was really delighted to see your were out of semi-retirement and working on a Saturday !!! - Well done great pictures - On another note just heard Frank O'Mahoney on RTE 1. Sat up from my internet browsing and was very proud that I know that man and he talks plain language but with such meaning. Well done Frank again and again and again. You are the type of character that make Boyle what it is.

Hi Sean,
Do you or anybody else out there know anything about the private development applied for in the Forest Park? Doesn't seem to be any public consultation on this one. Decision is due to be made mid- May.
2 May 2008 - Boyle

Webmaster comments   I understand there are more applications than one. The "second Gate" is one of them! I doubt if there will be public consultation since the property is not in public ownership!

I am just back from a walk into town and around the bridges with my mam and dad and I counted 12 houses along Patrick street with flowers on their doorsteps for mayday so the tradition is still alive in Boyle . Every year we put out flowers also.
1 May 2008 - Boyle

Webmaster comments   I must have been in town too early - There were none out at that time!
I think it is a nice tradition. Hopefully I will be one of those placing flowers next year!

In response to the comments by "Observer," there is no doubt that any tidy towns initiative in Boyle faces an uphill struggle given the state of so many buildings in the town.
Its a bit rough though to point the finger at the chamber of commerce; they at least are making an effort to make Boyle a better place. While a few (mostly empty) commercial premises are run-down and scruffy, the worst presented buildings in Boyle tend to be in the residential sector.
I agree that a small number of owners of commercial buildings continue to behave in a very antisocial manner, but I am sure that the chamber of commerce are as frustrated by this behaviour as the rest of us. It isn't fair to tar all the chamber members with the same brush though; most commecial premises in Boyle make an attempt to be good neighbours and are well presented.
What I am saying in effect is that antisocial behaviour is not confined to any category, and there is no point in condemning any organisation for the behaviour of a few of its members.

Congrats to Boyle Badminton club on their recent win at the Connacht finals in Galway and bringing the title back to Boyle after many years. Best of luck at the all Ireland finals on May 18th. As a community lets show our support to them best of luck.

It really is a laugh to note that Boyle Tidy Towns seems to be some sort of offshoot from your Chamber of Commerce. In fairness not all members are so uncaring, but some members of the same Chamber or their families have some of the dirtiest buildings in Boyle.
It would be an idea for the Chamber to literally clean its own back yard!!!!!
